  • Propose general policy regarding the development of women's affairs in the constitutional and civil organizations of the society.

  • Empower women to perform their role in public life and merge their efforts with comprehensive development programs without discrimination against them.

  • Set up a national plan to improve the situation of women and solve the problems facing them in all fields.

  • Implement women-related principles laid down in the National Action Charter and the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in addition to setting up suitable mechanisms to achieve that goal in cooperation with ministries, official institutions and civil society organizations.

  • Follow up and assess the implementation of public policies regarding women and put forward the council's suggestions and comments for concerned parties in this regard.

  • Provide proposals for amending existing legislations related to women and express views on draft laws and decisions on women before they are submitted to the specialized authority. In addition to providing proposals of draft laws and decisions required to improve the situation of women.

  • Follow up the implementation of laws, regulations and international conventions on women without discrimination against them. Also, follow up the women-related programs in the government plans.

  • Participate in the official parties and committees formed by the government on women's issues, directly or indirectly.

  • Represent Bahraini women in Arab and International gatherings and organizations concerned with women's affairs as well as sign agreements of joint cooperation and programs.

  • Establish a documentation center to collect information, data and studies related to women, as well as conduct research and surveys in this field.

  • Host conferences, seminars and discussions to address women issues.

  • Raise the society's awareness of women's role, rights and duties through using the appropriate mechanisms.

  • Issue publications, printed and electronic materials on the Council's objectives and responsibilities.

  • Deal with any duties and issues assigned by His Majesty the King to the council.
