The Award of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bin Ebraheem Al Khalifa for Women Empowerment at Professional and Political Associations came to consolidate the role of women at political and professional civil society institutions. It also aims to become one of the effective mechanisms to increase women participation in public life through encouraging civil society institutions to provide women with more opportunities to participate more and get involved in the decision making process. That approach will develop women's expertise and abilities in addition to engage them in professional and political life. It also will prepare women to be involved in political life and accepted by the society in this field. The Award is distributed every 2 years as it was established following decision number 18 for the year 2010.

 

 

 

 Goals of the Award:

  • Increase women's participation in political and professional civil society institutions.

  • Increase the number of women in leading positions in civil society institutions.

  • Encourage civil society institutions to engage women and enable them to hold leading positions and ensure non-discrimination against them.

  • Build leading, political and professional abilities of women as well as consolidate their expertise in the field of political and professional work.

  • Raise the awareness of Bahraini society of the role of women, their rights and duties.
