The establishment of the National Observatory to Monitor Gender Balance Indicators came in order to follow up the implementation of the center of expertise to develop the national organization in a way that supports knowledge's economy and achieves competitiveness of the National Plan of Bahraini Women's Advancement through establishing a documenting center to collect women related information and data. It would contribute to activating the Council's specialties and translate them into a concrete, easy and interdependent reality that facilitates knowledge about Bahraini women, their activates and participation in public life through coordinating with concerned parties to provide, update and organize the women related information in order to benefit from them.

The Council of Ministers had issued a resolution in its session held on 30th April, 2018 to assign a national observatory under the Information and eGovernment Authority for gender balance indicators to serve as a reference to measure Bahrain's competitiveness regarding women affairs at regional and international levels. The Supreme Council for Women would establish and standardize the approved definitions of the indicators and the Information and eGovernment Authority would provide the data.

The monitor project aims to build a unified knowledge system which enhances the knowledge's economy along with learning and publication resources. Moreover, it aims to measure the competitiveness' levels locally, regionally and internationally which helps in closing the gaps and invest in partnerships and alliances to present the best representations of the effective partnerships at the national level. This project would provide the following:

·      Monitoring and following up the indicators in all developmental areas that are categorized by gender and specifically women-related ones.

·      Providing all authorities with the online information in order for the "Monitor" to be the official resource to all women-related indicators.

·      Measuring the competitiveness' levels locally, regionally and internationally which will enhance the Kingdom of Bahrain's status in the international reports.

·      Establishing various mechanisms to be available and presented through websites and applications.
