SCW receives Arab award


In a special celebration, held as part of the Arab Social Responsibility forum which is co-organised by the Arab Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Network and the Arab Family Organisation, the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) was declared winner of the Honorary Award for Excellence in Caring for Arab Family 2020. The award was granted by the Arab Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Network after a unanimous approval of the organisers of the forum. The honour is a recognition of the ongoing efforts of SCW, spearheaded by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and SCW President.

SCW Secretary General Hala Al Ansari expressed utmost thanks for the decision to grant the award to SCW. She was speaking as she participated today in the remote opening session of the forum. She congratulated Bahrain on the Arab honour which reflects success of the national efforts in preserving the rights of Bahraini families. She underlined the ongoing efforts of SCW in this respect since its establishment 20 years ago. She also pointed out keenness of SCW on adopting issues related to Bahraini women and defending their interests within the framework of institutional work.

The SCW Secretary General also pointed out the council’s unflinching support to the government’s massive efforts to handle the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic since it hit the Arabian region so as to alleviate its social and economic repercussions on Bahraini families.

Social Responsibility Regional Network Board Chairman Prof. Yusef Abdul Ghaffar commended the efforts of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa in serving Bahraini women and families. He pointed out ability of the SCW to dedicate its capabilities to promoting family stability and alleviating fallout of COVID-19 crisis. He stressed that the council’s winning of the award is a recognition of its role in boosting stability of the Bahraini society.

SCW Acting Assistant Secretary General Shaikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa took part in the forum’s first work session. She gave a presentation highlighting the role of SCW in promoting family and economic stability of Bahraini women in the face of COVID-19 pandemic.
