Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, met with Noor bint Ali Al-Khulaif and congratulated her on the royal trust following her appointment as Minister of Sustainable Development. She said the trust embodies the great interest in the empowerment programmes of Bahraini women, particularly their political participation in decision making.

Al-Ansari pointed out that creating a ministry for sustainable development asserts commitment and support of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the UN agenda to achieve the sustainable development goals 2030. She voiced keenness of SCW to activate partnership with the Ministry of Sustainable Development to ensure complementarity of the national efforts to achieve the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The SCW Secretary General underscored the importance of consultation between both sides to achieve the goals related to women, adapt the national plan to the UN objectives and highlight Bahrain’s achievements in achieving gender balance in all development fields.

For her part, the minister praised the efforts made by SCW under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, to empower women and further engage them in national work.

The meeting shed light on the role of SCW in empowering Bahraini women and boosting their competitiveness.
