Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari today received a delegation from the European Conservatives and Reformists Group (ECR), marking their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

She briefed the delegation on the establishment and goals of the council, led Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and SCW President, in light of the reform project which was launched by HM the King.

She underlined the SCW success in building partnerships with public and private enterprises to consolidate equal opportunities and assess the sustainable impact of women’s development on different sectors. She pointed out the active presence of Bahraini women in the legislative branch of government, citing in this regard the royal which was issued by HM the King in 2014 to ensure her representation in the Shura Council.

Al-Ansari underlined the SCW-led efforts to consolidate Bahraini women’s presence in public life and the political scene through constitutional and democratic institutions. "Three women were elected, making up 8% of the overall number of MPs while 22.5% of the Shura Council are women", she said.
