HRH Princess Sabeeka opens Green pavilion

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women, today patronized the opening of the (Archaeologies of Green) pavilion, which highlighted Bahrain’s agricultural heritage at Milan Expo 2015.

The pavilion was reconstructed nearby Shaikh Isa bin Ali’s residence in Muharraq, which comprises ten fruit farms and a platform to display ancient agricultural tools used by Bahrainis thousands of years ago.

HRH Princess Sabeeka took pride in the international prizes and acclaim received by the Bahrain’s pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015, pointing out the efforts of President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Shaikh Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the BACA team, who conveyed to the world Bahrain’s genuine heritage and its interest in promoting agriculture and the architecture of heritage buildings stemmed from Islamic and Arab identity.

The BACA President expressed appreciation of HRH Princess Sabeeka’s interest in supporting the BACA cultural activities, saying the pavilion is a good opportunity for promoting Bahrain’s agricultural production and its beautiful environment.

The idea of reconstructing the pavilion focuses on providing a natural scene that comprises Bahraini fruit farms, an exhibition of agricultural tools dating back thousands of years, in addition to a cafeteria to serve a number of Bahraini dishes.
