The Award of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bin Ebraheem Al Khalifa for Bahraini Women Empowerment was launched as one of the important initiatives achieved by the Kingdom  in the field of supporting and consolidating Bahraini women status.

The Award reflects the belief of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women in the effective role of women in the society, the keen interest to support and empower working Bahraini women,  integrate them in the national development plans, achieve higher standards of holding leading and executive and decision- making positions, as well as the commitment of institutions toward the policy of non-discrimination against women,

It is also a realistic reflection of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's democratic reform program who issued Royal Decree number 5 for 2014 to establish the Award which is held each 2 years for the best ministries and public and private institutions in the field of supporting and empowering working Bahraini women. Throughout the past 4 terms of the Award in the years of 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2013 it witnessed continues development reflected in the clear raise of participating parties on public and private levels.

Goals of the Award:

  • Encourage government ministries and public and private institutions in supporting and empowering working Bahraini women and ensuring their success in performing their work and family duties.

  • Increase women's training and polish their skills.

  • Increase the number of women holding leading and executive positions.

  • Follow up national efforts that aim at integrating women's needs in national development plans.

  • Ensure the commitment of ministries and public and private institutions toward the policy of non-discrimination against women.
