Committees of integrating women's needs at Civil Society Institutions

Civil society institutions are considered an essential partner with public and private sector and play an important role in social development field as supporter of national efforts in building and activating networks and partnerships between those institutions. By providing this support, integration of women's needs and gender balance would be achieved and therefore the society would be developed and the National Model for the Integration of Women's Needs would be popularized and activated.

Those institutions play a great role in raising awareness in the society by cultivating justice and opportunities equity between men and women in order to assure the achievement of integrating women's needs and gender balance in development. Therefore, establishing integration of women's needs committees within the civil society institutions has a great importance as an organizing mechanism in order to activate women's cultural, professional and social role.

 

Specializations of Integration of Women's Needs Committees

 

Polices

  • Stating disciplines, criteria, plans and policies to implement the opportunities equity principle and gender balance within the context of the committee and its main system in order to serve the community.

  • Achieving justice and gender balance in all areas of institutional actions related to the committee which would lead to active participation of women in the process of decision-making, implementation, following up and evaluation.

  • Supporting the national efforts, ministries, official institutions and the private sector in integrating women's needs and gender balance in the context of opportunities equity within the committee's policies and tendencies.

  • Implementing qualitative initiatives in order to achieve gender balance and integrating women's needs based on the specialization.

Responsive budgets to women's needs

Including the integration of women's needs and gender balance in the budgets and financial plans of programs and projects done by the committee as part of its annual plans.

Knowledge Management

  • Documenting and highlighting the supportive efforts to integrate women's needs and gender balance in the committee.

  • Preparing categorized and comprehensive databases on the committee members based on the type.

  • Spreading awareness, educating and training the committee members and targeted groups by the committee about integrating women's needs and gender balance.

  • Contributing to the cultural change supporting the concept of integration of women's needs and gender balance.

Scrutiny and Surveillance

  • Monitoring and measuring the development in women's reality in the committee's work as well as locating gaps and contributing to closing them in cooperation with the concerned parties and the Supreme Council for Women.

  • Supporting the Supreme Council for Women's efforts in implementing the National Plan of Bahraini Women's Advancement within the committee's specialization.

Measuring the Impact

  • Following up and evaluating to which extent the aims of gender balance and the National Model for the Integration of Women's Needs in Development have been met in the committee.

  • Studying women's reality in the institution's specialization which is related to integrating women's needs and gender balance. Also, shedding the light on the challenges that women face in the work field and proposing suggestions to improve this reality in cooperation with considered parties.
