Bahrain participated in the Arab preparatory meeting for the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), held virtually under the theme "Review and Appraisal of the Implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action +30."

The meeting aimed to coordinate a unified Arab stance on key issues and finalise a draft Arab declaration, "Towards Beijing+35," to be presented at CSW69, scheduled for March 10-21, 2025, in New York.

Bahrain was represented by Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).

Additionally, Bahrain took part in the 44th session of the Arab Women’s Committee, chaired by Palestine and attended by representatives of national women’s institutions from Arab League member states.

Discussions covered several key topics, including the Arab Women’s Development Agenda (2023-2028), preparations for CSW69, the regional review of the Beijing Declaration after 30 years, the Pink Portfolio Initiative supporting women’s health, combating gender-based violence, the Arab Women’s Excellence Award, climate change, capacity-building for the Gender Equality Subcommittee to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the designation of Jerusalem as the Arab Women’s Capital for 2025-2026.

Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, SCW Secretary General, announced the launch of the third edition of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment, on the sidelines of CSW69 in New York in March 2025.

She invited Arab League member states to attend the launch and encouraged governmental and private sector entities, civil society organisations, and individuals to participate and benefit from the award.

A detailed briefing on the award’s objectives and eligibility criteria was also circulated among participants.
