Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired the council’s fourth meeting of its eighth term (2022–2025).

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim expressed her appreciation to the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the council’s work and all national initiatives aimed at advancing Bahraini women.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim highlighted that this support has empowered the SCW to achieve key milestones in fulfilling His Majesty’s vision, ensuring Bahraini women’s contributions to national development and progress.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim also commended the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for its continuous support and collaboration with all SCW initiatives, aligning with government priorities.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim highlighted the importance of holding this meeting at the start of the year, commending the initiatives and activities implemented over the past period, including the celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day, which featured events showcasing the achievements and contributions of Bahraini women.

 

During the meeting, HRH Princess Sabeeka commended the initiatives launched by the SCW Secretariat in line with the decisions of the council’s third meeting, particularly the adoption of work priorities for 2024 and initiatives, in line with the Kingdom’s celebrations of the 25th anniversary of HM the King’s accession to the throne.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim underscored that the preparation of the National Plan (2025–2026) by a specialised committee comprising SCW members and the Secretariat team includes both ongoing and new initiatives.

 

 HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim noted that these efforts aim to further support Bahraini women's advancement, enhance their participation in all sectors, safeguard their achievements, and ensure the sustainability of their contributions to national development.

 

The council also reviewed a briefing by Lulwa Al Awadhi, Acting Secretary General of the SCW, on the implementation of 2024 priorities and the national celebrations marking His Majesty the King’s Silver Jubilee. The report also covered the SCW’s preparations for the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025–2026).

 

The council was briefed on the Secretariat's efforts to renew MoUs with various government and civil society entities to enhance cooperation on women-related matters. It also reviewed reports on SCW’s membership in specialised national committees and a proposal for a women’s empowerment programme for board membership in publicly listed companies on the Bahrain Bourse.

 

The council also discussed several initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation with relevant entities to support Bahraini women in various social, professional, and legal sectors.
