HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim approves nomination of HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa to represent Bahrain at UN Women Executive Board

With the approval of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, SCW member, has been nominated to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Executive Board of UN Women for the 2026–2028 term.
Bahrain’s election by the United Nations Economic and Social Council to one of the five seats allocated to the Asia-Pacific Group on the UN Women Executive Board reflects the Kingdom’s distinguished position among nations with leading practices in advancing women’s issues. It also confirms continued international recognition of Bahrain’s dedicated and innovative efforts to empower women and strengthen their status regionally and globally. This is the second time Bahrain has been elected to the Executive Board, following its membership from 2017 to 2019.
During its term, Bahrain will support the work of UN Women and actively contribute to shaping global policies and strategies on women’s empowerment, capacity building, and participation in building societies and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Bahrain will also work to enhance women’s advancement in technology and modern sciences and support their progress across all domains of work, in line with the Kingdom’s long standing approach to promoting equality and equal opportunities.
