Lulwa bint Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), issued Decision (3) of 2025 on forming the Committee for Women working in Nurseries and Kindergartens.
According to the decision, the committee will be chaired by Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, SCW member, and will include representatives from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, the Directorate of Private Schools Performance Review and Kindergartens at the Ministry of Education, the Labour Fund "Tamkeen", and nurseries and childcare institutions.
During its fourth meeting of the eighth session on January 29, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the SCW had unanimously tasked the committee with reviewing the licensing conditions for nurseries and kindergartens in alignment with the Labour Law and social insurance regulations in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
The committee will also assess related laws, including the Social Insurance Law and Early Education Law, to address the status of female employees in the sector, particularly Paragraph (9) of Article III of the Social Insurance Law, in coordination with the Ministry of Legal Affairs and other relevant authorities.
Additionally, the council approved further coordination with Tamkeen to review wage support programmes to include the early education sector and to benefit from private sector school experiences in developing early education curricula.
