SCW Secretary General participates in Tamayoz conference
26 Feb 2025

Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), participated in the Tamayoz conference, under the theme "Empowering Women in the Digital Economy."

Al Awadhi highlighted that the council's initiatives consistently integrate both ongoing and new programmes aimed at advancing Bahraini women from empowerment to leadership and excellence across emerging fields and promising technological sectors. These include artificial intelligence, digital content creation, and digital transformation, supported through education, training, awareness, and access to financial resources.

Al Awadhi noted that the SCW’s efforts are reflected in the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, endorsed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in 2005 and translated into national plans. She highlighted that Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW, recently approved the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025-2026), which focuses on empowering women in digital fields and high-potential specialisations.

She underscored the SCW’s commitment to aligning with the Government Plan (2023-2026), "From Recovery to Sustainable Growth," which includes strengthening Bahraini women's contributions to public life and the national economy.

She highlighted that government support has enabled Bahraini women to hold ministerial positions and increase their presence in leadership roles and decision-making positions across various sectors, as reflected in global competitiveness reports.

Al Awadhi emphasised that, under the directives of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim, the SCW remains committed to renewing and strengthening collaboration with relevant entities to implement the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025-2026). This includes ensuring women's participation in promising sectors, achieving gender balance as a practical mechanism for equal rights and responsibilities, and sustaining progress across all fields, including the digital economy.

She emphasised that this is pursued through well-structured policies and genuine partnerships among key national stakeholders.
