Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, the Bahrain Trust Foundation held a celebration marking its 15th anniversary, coinciding with International Volunteer Day.

The event was attended by Her Highness Shaikha Nayla bint Hamad bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation (MKF), and Chairperson of the Royal Life Saving Bahrain (RLSB).

 

HH Shaikha Nayla bint Hamad commended the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim, noting it reflects Her Royal Highness’ continuous support for development and charitable initiatives and encourages charitable organisations to continue their noble work in serving society and promoting sustainable humanitarian efforts. Her Highness also commended the dedicated volunteers of the Bahrain Trust Foundation for their pivotal role in implementing charitable projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad and for making a tangible positive impact on individuals and communities.  

 

HH Shaikha Nayla bint Hamad added that the 15th anniversary is an important milestone to reflect on the Foundation’s achievements, which have established a model of community partnership and institutional humanitarian work, highlighting the role of all partners who have enhanced the Foundation’s position as a leading national institution promoting a culture of giving. 

 

Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, highlighted that celebrating the Bahrain Trust Foundation’s 15th anniversary alongside International Volunteer Day demonstrates appreciation for volunteers’ efforts, emphasising that volunteering is a key part of development and civil society organisations are essential partners in supporting it.  

 

Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Balooshi, Chairperson of the Bahrain Trust Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and Dr. Faten Ibrahim Al Moayyed, Vice President of the Bahrain Trust Foundation’s Board of Trustees, noted that the anniversary celebration reflects the organisation’s journey of institutional giving and humanitarian work, and underlines the belief that volunteering and giving are the path to building individuals and society. They expressed gratitude to HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim for the patronage and continuous support of the Foundation’s educational and social projects, describing it as a mark of recognition for all involved and an encouragement to continue giving.

 

Dr. Al Balooshi highlighted that since its founding, the Bahrain Trust Foundation has focused on areas that address real community needs, with projects such as the miniature hospital schools for sick children, the "Space for All" community centre combining education and creativity, and the Safeya Ali Kanoo Hub for Arts as Bahrain’s first centre for artists. The Foundation has established around 20 micro schools worldwide through volunteer initiatives and launched programmes such as the Story Writing Competition, Al Fereej Theatre, Mohammed Yousif Al Balooshi Quran Competition, Teacher Expo, University scholarships, volunteer trips, the "Teach Me" programme, the Da Vinci Training Programme for artists, school playgrounds, mini libraries, art exhibitions, and more.  

 

On her part, Dr. Al Moayyed announced plans to establish a charitable sustainability fund to ensure continued financing of projects, launch a digital platform for volunteers to document activities and share ideas, develop the Manaarah educational digital platform for schools and spaces, expand hospital schools for youth, create more community spaces across the kingdom, establish specialised vocational schools to integrate youth into the workforce, and open more miniature schools worldwide, encouraging the community to support the Foundation through donations, volunteering, or partnerships to create sustainable value.

 

Dr. Al Balooshi and Dr. Al Moayyed expressed their sincere thanks to attendees, supporters, partners, Board members, staff, organisers, and volunteers for their contributions. 

 

The event featured a segment highlighting volunteer teams and their achievements, and included a speech by the United Nations Volunteers.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim was honoured for the patronage, represented by HH Shaikha Nayla bint Hamad.

 

The celebration concluded with a tour of the exhibition, showcasing the organisation’s key programmes and initiatives over 15 years of continuous giving.
