02 Jul 2025

The Women’s Committee for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Modern Sciences convened its second meeting at the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, SCW member and Chair of the Committee.

The meeting reviewed the minutes of the committee’s previous meeting. Members then reviewed sectoral data and information received from committee members on key areas including telecommunications, artificial intelligence, financial technology, cybersecurity, and data science.

Discussions focused on aligning the committee’s initiatives with the 2025–2026 National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, particularly under the economic participation pillar. Priority areas included tracking the implementation of the committee’s mandate, raising awareness of support programmes for local and international professional certifications, promoting skill development in line with emerging labour market demands, and increasing awareness of career opportunities in technology and artificial intelligence. The committee also discussed outreach programmes for women entrepreneurs on leveraging digital tools for business growth.

The proposed work priorities for the upcoming period, in line with the 2025–2026 National Women's Advancement Plan, were also reviewed, along with other items on the agenda.
