Bahrain tops Gulf and Arab world in women’s leadership opportunities in GTCI 2025 index
The Kingdom of Bahrain has recorded a new achievement after ranking first in both the Arab world and the Gulf in the Women’s Leadership Opportunities indicator, one of the key measures within the Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) 2025 issued by INSEAD.
This indicator is calculated using data from the World Economic Forum’s annual Executive Opinion Survey (Davos). It assesses the availability of leadership opportunities for women in the workplace, as well as the extent to which women enjoy equal opportunities to access senior leadership positions in companies. The Global Talent Competitiveness Index is recognised as one of the world’s leading international reference reports for evaluating countries’ capacities to develop, attract, and retain talent.
The report stated "economies such as Brazil, Bahrain, France, and the United Kingdom demonstrate a balanced input–output relationship, suggesting proportionate returns on their talent competitiveness investments. These economies sustain equilibrium between talent investments and resulting performance, indicating mature and stable talent ecosystems." This assessment reflects the Kingdom’s efforts to translate investment in human capital into sustainable outcomes and highlights Bahrain’s position among economies that have successfully aligned their development strategies with the requirements of human development and the empowerment of individuals as a key driver of growth.
This progress in the overall report reflects the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s model, regionally and internationally, in nurturing talent, empowering women’s competencies, and supporting Bahraini women in reaching the highest leadership positions. This is achieved within the framework of the national journey to empower Bahraini women, which enjoys the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
It is also advanced through the ongoing efforts of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW. The Council continues to implement specialised initiatives and programmes that integrate women’s needs into development pathways and encourage their active participation across all sectors and fields of national work. These efforts are supported by an advanced legislative and policy framework that enshrines the principle of equal opportunity and ensures an enabling environment for women.
International indicators continue, year after year, to affirm Bahrain’s standing as a leading model in women’s empowerment at both regional and global levels, building on the Kingdom’s sustained achievements across international reports focused on women.
In this context, Bahrain also recorded notable progress in the Global Gender Gap Report 2025 issued by the World Economic Forum (Davos), advancing 12 places compared with its ranking in the 2024 report to reach 104th globally out of 148 countries. This progress confirms that the Kingdom has successfully translated its commitment and leadership in supporting women into practical steps reflected in clear outcomes in international reports, whether in women’s economic participation across the public and private sectors or in their advancement to decision-making positions.
