Housing Ministry, SCW hold first joint committee meeting

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) held the first meeting of their joint committee, chaired by Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing, and Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, Acting Secretary General at SCW. The meeting focused on housing services for Bahraini women.
The minister emphasised the committee’s goal of meeting the housing needs of Bahraini women, praising the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the ongoing support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW.
Discussions included updates on Phase II of the Masaken (Housing) project in East Hidd, which will provide 49 apartments for eligible women, including divorced, widowed, or court-abandoned women without children, unmarried orphaned women, and Bahraini women with minor non-Bahraini children. The project, covering over 2,000 square metres, features modern designs, commercial facilities, and spaces for social and cultural events, ensuring accessibility for people with special needs.
Al Rumaihi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to women’s housing services through tailored projects, legislative updates, and partnerships with the private sector, including housing finance programmes benefiting many citizens.
Al Awadhi commended the collaboration with the ministry, highlighting recent achievements such as expanding eligibility criteria for fifth-category applicants and removing inheritance-related restrictions for women. She expressed hope that the joint committee would continue to secure further housing benefits for Bahraini women.
