17 Sep 2025

The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) inaugurated a Women’s Support Office at the Mubarak Kanoo Comprehensive Social Centre in Sanabis, in the presence of Osama Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, and Lulwa Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the SCW. The initiative is part of the Council’s plan to establish support offices in social development centres across all four governorates of Bahrain, enhancing services for Bahraini women in line with the Council’s mandate.

During the opening, the Minister commended the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their continued support of women’s development. He also commended the role of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of HM the King and President of the SCW, for promoting Bahraini women’s achievements regionally and internationally.

The Minister highlighted that the new office represents a strategic step in Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to empower women, offering guidance, consultations, and support to enhance women’s active participation in society and address the challenges they face.

Al Awadhi expressed her gratitude to HM the King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim for their continuous support, guidance, and encouragement in advancing Bahraini women across all fields.

She emphasised that the office aligns with the Council’s continuous efforts to provide an integrated environment that addresses women’s needs, facilitates access to services, and strengthens collaboration with government institutions to support women’s advancement and empowerment. She added that the office will offer a wide range of services, track women’s needs, respond to complaints, and assist in accessing government services, with ongoing evaluation to ensure maximum impact.

The office is staffed by specialised personnel from the SCW, including experts in family counselling, working in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and other state institutions to deliver comprehensive support to Bahraini women.
